An adorable fabric and sewing shop in our neighborhood. My sister and I stopped by this week and picked out a couple fabrics to make pillows and cute decorations for the nursery. Around the shop they have several examples of things you can make and for each item they offer a class to learn how to do it!
Is it really necessary to have 3,234 options for a crib mattress?! Picking out the crib was the easy part, picking out the mattress proved to be a challenge. At first I thought I wanted an organic mattress. But after much research, I discovered certain requirements set by the government require companies to put some chemicals into the matresses, so rarely are any 100% organic. In addition, the price tag for an organic mattress is substantially more than a standard mattress. Why am I paying for organic… when it really isn’t? If they are 100% organic, they typically don’t have a protective liner, which would require us to purchase a liner to protect the mattress. Mattresses without a liner are even more dangerous in my opinion due to the risk of bacteria growth.
So after several weeks of research we decided to go with Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer mattress. We chose this mattress for these reasons:
- PVC/Vinyl free
- Has two firmness zones (one for infant, another for toddler)
- Mattresses are made of a blend of natural plant (soy) oils and conventional polyol
- Reviews = A+
- Lightweight, so 2am sheet changes won’t require two adults and a crane to lift the mattress.
I found the mattress on Amazon for $186. I plan to purchase the mattress within the next couple weeks. Glad to have that decision behind us!
Ca-ute! Modern, adorable crib bedding can be found on their website along with tons of furniture, decor and just about anything else you may need for your home. We decided not to go with The Land of Nod bedding we originally picked out. Instead, we found this adorable bedding set.It is absolutely perfect and I can’t wait to start on the nursery now! We have so many ideas of what we want to do in the room… now we just have to find the time!
O.M.G. I made this on Tuesday and it was delicious. So easy to make as the crockpot does everything for you. I sauteed broccoli, green peppers and onions and served with a side of brown rice. We had the leftovers last night and they were just as good! This recipe will definitely be a staple in our house from now on.
Have a wonderful Easter holiday everyone. Take time to reflect on what Easter truly means for each and every one of us. It’s not about candy, bunnies or chicks, it’s about the gift we have been given of everlasting life through Christ’s death on the cross. He gave His life, so that ours will be saved. Take time to pray and truly make this most important day about Christ. He deserves ALL the praise.
