Cute as a Button Shower!

My best friend Sarah asked before I was even pregnant, if she could host a baby shower for me.  Sarah and I were roommates our freshman year of college.  Within the first couple hours of meeting each other I knew she would be a friend for life.  The icing on the cake?  Our husbands are also very close.  Ya know that friend I’ve mentioned with the truck?  Yeah, that’s Lane, Sarah’s husband.  We always have so much fun with them and I can’t wait for our little guy to join the party! The masterminds behind the shower were Sarah and Stephanie.  Stephanie is Ryan’s cousin.  She and her husband Zach are the BEST people to enjoy a Saturday night out with.  I mean, you will wake up the next day sore from all the belly laughing.  It meant so much to me to have these two ladies host the shower as they are very dear to me.  Our little guy will grow up knowing these two families very well.

My mom and sisters arrived at my house and after a few minutes of primping and final touches, we were off to the shower!

The theme of the shower was “Cute as a Button” and the details were oh so cute.

Lunch was so good and the layout was so beautiful.  I made sure to get two plates!  Sarah even made fresh squeezed lemonade!

We played a really fun game in which the guests had to guess the price of certain products, such as, Aquaphore, Baby Wipes, Johnson and Johnson lotion, etc.  Woah, was I way off!  The game was based on the Price is Right rules.  The person who was the closest to the actual price without going over got a point!  It was so much fun.

Time for gifts!  Several guests brought a book instead of a card which I loved.  Every book was so different and several had little notes for our little man inside.  One of the books was “We Belong Together” by Joyce Wan.  It has cute little quotes like, “We belong together like smitten little mittens.” and “Like bacon and eggs everyday.”  Just precious.

I was completely taken back by everyone’s generosity with their gifts.  Some of the major items we received were the car seat, stroller and bedding set.  These alone would have cost us over… I don’t even want to think about it.

Elephants my sister Jenna made! Aren’t they adorable!

This was the gift Ryan may have been the most excited about. This was one of his registry requests. It was so funny because I just kept going on and on about the car seat, stroller and bedding set and Ryan kept saying, “I can’t believe we got the Twilight Turtle!” lol

Ryan’s Grandma Jackie sat next to me while I opened gifts.  She was amazed at the items they have now for babies.  I had to explain just about every gift and it’s use.  She was the most impressed with the Bumbo and Boppy.  ha!

We are so blessed to be surrounded by such loving family and friends.  Truly some of the greatest people I’ve ever known and I feel so fortunate that our baby will grow up knowing this same love.

Here are some pictures with friends and family from the shower:

It was the truly the perfect day.  Beautiful weather, wonderful family and the best of friends.  Thanks so much Sarah and Stephanie!
