38 Weeks

Week: 38
Size: Pumpkin!
Baby’s job this week:  He is between 19-21 inches long and weighs around 6-8 lbs in weight!  Slowly starting to shed vernix caseosa.  His lungs and brain development are still a work in progress.
Symptoms:  Swelling!  Baby has definitely dropped.  He is sitting much lower than last week.  On Wednesday, I woke up in the middle of the night to contractions.  Kind of freaked me out because I was scheduled to drive a physician to Cambridge on Thursday!  Luckily, after 2 large glasses of water, the contractions stopped.  Shoo.
Sleep:  It’s hit or miss.  Some nights I get a good 6-8 hours but other nights it’s only 3-4 hours.  Sometimes I can’t sleep due to my back feeling as though it’s going to break other times I can’t turn my brain off.
Maternity Clothes:  Anything that fits!
Food Cravings:  Chipotle and ice cream!
Food aversions:  Nothing to report!
What I miss: Wine, Dewey’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and blue cheese
Movement:  Movement has definitely slowed down.  There just isn’t that much room for this little guy to move around!  It’s more jabs and pokes these days.
Gender: Boy!
Favorite moment of the week:  Ryan and I are taking full advantage of our final weekends together as just a couple.  On Friday we grabbed Chipotle and watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  Saturday we ran errands and went out to dinner around 9pm!  lol  We went to Betty’s in the Short North and it was delicious.  We had been wanting to try this local dive for quite some time.  Sunday our favorite three some came to visit!  Tom, Lauren and Emmett came up and spent the afternoon with us.  They helped us set up the pack-n-play and swing.  Seriously, no directions necessary as these two could have done it with their eyes closed!  They’re pro’s!  I sure do wish they lived closer to us.  We love spending time with them so much.
What I’m looking forward to: Spending as much time as possible with Ryan.
Favorite Ryan quote:   Nothing to report this week!

Have a great week!
