This past Sunday was a very important and special day for Sam and for us as parents. Our church doesn’t baptize infants but rather holds a baby dedication. It’s an opportunity for parents to dedicate their children to the Lord and to publicly make a committment to raise our children to know Jesus. Our church holds the belief that Baptism is for those who have made a personal decision to trust Christ alone for their salvation, once they have the maturity and ability to understand what that means. In scripture Hannah dedicates her son Samuel to the Lord and Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the temple to dedicate him. The New Testament records the baptisms of adult believers only. I look forward to the day when Sam comes to us and says he wants to be baptized and live his life for Christ.
I know some family members have struggled with our decision not to have Sam baptized as an infant but everyone came out to support Sam on Sunday which meant a lot to Ryan and I. Sam of course looked adorable in a grey vest and his Sperry’s. So fun to dress up little boys like men. I love putting outfits together for Sam that remind me of Ryan.
I was so glad to also take a 4 generation picture with Great Grandpa Jim, Grandpa Jeff, Ryan and Sam. We took one at the hospital when Sam was born but I wanted one of a little better quality. Since the one’s at the hospital were just taken on our phones.
Sam is such a lucky boy to have so many family members and friends support and love him. He was such a trooper the entire day. We were all in bed by 7pm that night. Busy day!
