Growing by Two Feet

We’re adding another little Slice to our family!  Some days I still have to remind myself that I’m pregnant and that we will soon be a family of 4, it just all seems so surreal right now.  So, just like I did with my Sammy boy, I am going to document this pregnancy.  I can’t wait to one day look back and compare how different and similar each pregnancy was.  So to start off, this is how we found out our family was growing by two feet…

Back in June, Ryan and I decided we were going to start trying for a baby but had the attitude of “if it happens, it happens.”  No ovulation kits, no temping every morning, no testing 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 days before expecting aunt flo.  Both of us hoped that by the end of the year we would be expecting baby #2 so there was no pressure for wanting it to happen immediately.

Back up to Wednesday, July 16th.  I hadn’t tested and truly didn’t feel there was anyway we were pregnant.  However, what tipped me off was that my pee smelled weird.  {I know, I know TMI.  Listen people, this is a pregnancy blog.  Get real.}  It instantly reminded me of being pregnant with Sam.  I don’t know if it’s the amount of protein in your urine or what but there was something about it.  So that night on the way home, I swung by the grocery and picked up a pregnancy test.  After I got home with Sam and had dinner underway, I decided to test.  Again, thinking there was no way I was pregnant that the smell of my pee must have been from dehydration.  To my surprise, I walked into the bathroom to see those two pink lines.  The first words out of my mouth were “Holy S**t.”  I just starred at myself in the mirror and kept laughing.  Then started crying out of sheer joy and then laughing again.

I bought a card for Ryan that Monday, it said, “I love you” on the front and was blank inside, so I decided to use it that night.  Ryan came home and immediately found Sam and smooched all over him.  I walked over, kissed him and handed him the card.  I then walked into the other room, standing behind him.  I wrote that I love our life even when times are tough but especially through the good times… like now, we’re having another baby.  After reading the card, he spun around and with the biggest grin and eyes said, “What are we doing?  We are? A baby?  You’re pregnant?!”  I just said yes with tear filled eyes.  He of course ran over and we hugged for a very long time.  He just kept saying, “This is awesome.  I’m so excited.”  I showed him the test and took another one the next morning.  Yep, definitely pregnant I told him. That positive test came as a bit of a surprise and we of course couldn’t be more elated.  God’s timing is always better than our own.  Always.

I’m so excited to bring this blog back to life.  Here’s to round two!  Cheers 🙂
